Cyanotype Workshop
🌞 Cyanotype Workshop
Fri & Sat · 11am–2pm · Aug 1–2
Location: OSC-Press · Instructors: Helen Grant & Rai Fordyce
$75 (includes all materials)
Join us at OSC-Press for a two-day workshop that explores the art of Cyanotypes! On Friday, August 1st, Helen Grant will walk students through the process of editing their photos, making them into transparencies, exposing them in the sunlight, and processing them with options to tone the image to create china blue, prussian blue, or indigo hued cyanotypes. Helen will show students how to prepare cyanotype on paper for future exposures. Then on Saturday, August 2, the class will begin with a short walk around the Walker Arts District in Historic Downtown Norman. Participants will be encouraged to gather materials that can cast interesting shadows for their sun prints. Then Rai will instruct students on how to lay out the found objects and expose them on handkerchiefs, using a process called Solarfast, and on prepared Cyanotype papers.
Discover the magic of sunlight printing in this two-day workshop. You'll learn how to coat paper and fabric with light-sensitive chemicals, then expose them to UV light using found objects, plants, drawings, or negatives to create unique compositions.
Cyanotypes are a beautiful, accessible way to make striking blue-toned images. Solarfast is a safer alternative for making sun prints and allows for sun printing in a spectrum of colors. This workshop is perfect for artists of all levels looking to experiment with photography, print, and alternative processes.
