New HOLD screen print with Eliseo Angel Casiano ( & a peek at Flyover State exhibition)
Got to work with Eliseo Casiano on some pretty sick CMYK process prints earlier this month. A complicated swarm of half-tone dots work together to summon the illusion of chrome balloon letters spelling the word “HOLD.” Process colors have been manipulated to shift colors to a pleasantly surreal magenta.

“My work is an examination of pejorative societal devices that pronounce positions of racial inferiority and feelings of alienation, providing a context to the dissonance between my Tejano heritage and childhood aspiration to feel "normal" in a white space. I re-contextualize family stories in relation to cultural signifiers, social mobility, and ethnic representation to decipher my understanding of our present political climate.”
