Join a relaxed four-part reading and discussion group exploring ideas, exercises, and approaches connected to performance art and experimental theatre. Participants will receive short selections to read between meetings, then gather on Saturdays to discuss how the ideas might inform their own creative practices.
Readings may include selections from Jerzy Grotowski’s Towards a Poor Theatre, Movement for Actors, and Antonin Artaud’s writings on the Theatre of Cruelty. Discussions will consider how movement, presence, space, discipline, collaboration, and the relationship between performer and audience can become materials for making art.
No previous experience with performance or theatre is required, and participants will not need to purchase the complete books. Come ready to read, exchange ideas, and explore how these concepts can move from the page into practical experiments and new ways of working.
